Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) Online Tool
SORA is a methodology for classifying the risk posed by a drone operation in the “specific” category and identifying the mitigations and operational safety objectives needed for an operational authorisation. It supports definition of operational limitations, personnel competence, technical requirements and procedures.
SORA was developed by the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS). In the European Union, EASA publishes SORA as an Acceptable Means of Compliance to Article 11 of Regulation (EU) 2019/947 and supports harmonised application by operators and national aviation authorities. This online tool is intended for UAS operators, consultants, safety managers and project teams preparing operations in the “specific” category that are not fully covered by a standard scenario or a predefined risk assessment and therefore require a documented operational risk assessment for submission to the competent National Aviation Authority.
